UFC 71 - Fight Analysis - Chuck Liddell The Iceman vs. Quentin Rampage Jackson

Well, as I'm sure you already know, the mixed martial arts world was KO'ed almost as fast as the right-handed hook punch that floored the fighter who stopped many to be practical and easily, at least until that date, the most feared strikers in the light heavyweight division. Of course I'm talking about the featured fight of the evening at UFC # 71 with Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell vs. Quentin "Rampage" Jackson.

Liddell, who several yearsAgo were from Jackson during a Pride fight in Japan defeated, are looking to only three (now four avenge) the loss in his brilliant career. The first two to Randy Couture and Jeremy Horn. Both of which he avenged in an impressive way in recent bouts. The third defeat and then finished fourth to Quentin "Rampage" Jackson.

Now I have two men fighting on numerous occasions and I have seen a very high appreciation for the abilities of the two. I must admit that my heartPulling for Liddell, but my gut feeling told me that Jackson was there to take. Score one for the good and nil for the heart.

As we all know that Liddell is primarily a stand-up fighter and should still be one of the most feared strikers in the light heavyweight division. Although he is a suffering "not flash" Knock-out in this struggle, this does not seem to represent an adverse knock as much as long-lasting effects are concerned, and should not on its ability to strikedevastating knockout power in both hands.

Jackson, who is a very aggressive club, is mainly known for his skills and beat his phenomenal "ground and pound" fighting force. Jackson is also very strong and has fought some very talented and tough opponent in the Pride organization.

What follows is a detailed analysis of the professional fight from start to finish, concluding with some final thoughts about both fighters. Please note thatthese are my opinions from my own perspective of events by the omissions. They are not intended to shed any kind of negative or disparaging thoughts, words, etc. on one of the participating hunters. I have a great respect for all, and I mean everyone who steps on the mat. So, with another let's get started.

THE FIGHT:

From the opening bell, Jackson was clearly the aggressor when he confronted on the octagon with Liddell. Throughout theFight, Jackson controlled the center of the octagon, and Liddell made to move the outer edges. Jackson's defensive skills with his hands was clearly visible over the entire length of the fight, as he always his hands and elbows at the sides, which would have wiped out any hidden boxing coach proud grin. Well, how come we hear so much about the supposed wealth of individual stars and so little about the actions of "good".?
